Dietrich Eckart Krankenhaus (Hospital) Mess Hall Collection
The Dietrich Eckart Krankenhaus (hospital) was built on the personal order of Adolf Hitler in Berchtesgaden as a state of the art hospital in 1938. It's primary use was as a military hospital.
Eckart was a medical doctor, personal friend, and mentor to Hitler during the early years of the Nazi party. He participated in the Beer Hall Putsch of November, 1923. and was arrested and jailed in Landsberg Prison with Hitler and other Nazi party officials, but was released soon after due to illness. He died of a heart attack in Berchtesgaden on December 26, 1923. Hitler's dedicated his second volume of "Mein Kampf" to Eckart.
This is a very scarce collection of mess hall service ware which found me at a recent trade show. The collection I obtained consists of eleven pieces. Most are in stunning unused condition. Each piece is marked with the hospital logo. A really unique find I will be adding soon!
