WWI Austrian M16 Transitional Helmet
Item: GM132

Original WWI Austrian M16 helmet reissued during WWII to the German army.  Shell was period repainted to field grey.  At some point, decals were painted over.  Some of the eagle is visible through chips in the finish.  There is evidence of a red cross decal removed from the front of the shell as well.  Liner is 1939 dated.  No chin strap present.  Size 56 is stamped to inner crown as well as on the liner band.  Leather liner is clean and in excellent condition.  No lace.
