WWII German WH DAK Pith Helmet

Offered is this second pattern tropical pith helmet. It is constructed with an od colored felt on the exterior over a cork base and trimmed with a stitched on grayish/green leather band running along the edge. Exterior shows some moth damage and minor flaking to the leather. The top center of the crown has a removable, felt covered, ventilation knob with three openings. The helmet has both stamped metal shields with a national eagle on the left side and national tri-color shield on the right. The eagle shield in in near mint condition and shows excellent detailing. The national tri-color shield shows some paint flaking especially to the red field. The interior of the helmet is lined in teal green felt which shows heavy moth damage. Crown is lined in red felt which has a couple tears. Tan leather sweatband is held in place with six prongs and metal cotter pins. The sweatband is maker marked and is in excellent condition. The interior crown has a metal grommet under the exterior top crown knob. Helmet is size marked 55 and dated 1942 on the under side of the sweatband.
