WWII German DAK Pith Helmet 1st Pattern
Item: GM3981

Offered is a first pattern tropical pith helmet. It is constructed with a khaki colored, ribbed cloth over a cork base.  Cloth cover is in excellent condition with minor soiling. The top center of the crown has a removable, cloth covered, ventilation knob. The leather trimmed edge has been replaced post war.  The helmet has both of the stamped metal shields one with an army eagle on the left side and national tri-color shield on the right which was a replacement that does not line up with the original holes, one prong is missing.  The interior of the helmet is lined in red cloth which is also in very good condition.  Leather sweatband is fully intact but dry and cracked.  It is maker marked with company logo a triangle with DRL and is ink stamped "Made in Germany" for post war export.  Chinstrap is a reproduction.  Not a bad example.
