Luftwaffe Officer Dress Sword F.A. Helbig

Second pattern Luftwaffe Officer's sword, manufactured by F.A. Helbig.  The sun wheel swastikas are gilded toned.  The wooden grip is wrapped in Moroccan leather. The leather is tight with some scrapes and scuffs.  The grip is tightly wrapped with two rows of wrapped silver wire.  All the aluminum fittings are bright.  The blade measures about 30 3/4" long. It has a bright finish. No nics or detectable damage.  Has not been cleaned.  Blade is double maker marked, one to each side.

The scabbard is straight. It has some signs of use through scuffs and abrasions to the leather.  Mounts are in good condition and retain the flush mount screws. The original matching leather crescent hanger is also present with some scuffs to finish and is complete with the hanging clip.  One end it loose from the ring.  Very nice sword with scarce maker.
